Note down some rough ideas.
Do not make the speech too long.
Be selective with the details.
Do not include anything in the speech that may offend any of the wedding party or guests.
Unless you have some genuinely funny tales to tell of the grooms exploits, avoid them. If you are going to make jokes, make sure they have a ring of truth about them that will be familiar to the guests.
Be careful with the "you had to be there" scenario.
The speech should be amusing, though should avoid upsetting the bride in any way.
Avoid references to money, ex lovers and past arguments!
The best man should read any telegrams or cards from absent guests. and sum up with a final toast to The Bride and Groom, and announce the cutting of the cake.
