Tips on Flattering Your Figure
|
|
The triangle (Small on top, heavier on the bottom)
Emphasize your top half with full sleeves, pouted sleeves and fancy
beaded or lace bodices. An elongated bodice will take away from your
hips. Avoid body hugging sheaths and skirts with extra fullness.
|
|
The inverted triangle (Full on top, narrow hips)
In order to give width to your lower body, look for dresses with minimal
shoulder details, simple sleeves and a simple bodices. Avoid straight skirts, empire waistlines and plunging necklines.
|
|
The rectangle (Straight up and down)
To create the illusion of curves, look for fulI skirts and fancy necklines.
Oversize shoulders will add width and shape to your whole silhouette.
Avoid very fitted dresses and clingy fabrics. You can add a few pounds
by selecting a heavier fabric such as velvet or satin. Choose a blousier
bodice with a gathered waist and narrow sleeves. |
|
The hourglass (Small waist, curvy hips and bust)
Maximize your curves. Look for gowns with classic lines like the hourglass
and sophisticated sheath. Show off your bustline with a simple neck
line. But avoid fussy detailing which could make you look bigger than
you are. |
