How Do I Apply for a Passport ?
You must apply in person if this is your first passport.
If your passport was lost, stolen or issued more than 12 years ago. You must fill in an application form and send it to the passport office.
Apply for Passport Several Months in advance. Generally, it takes only a few weeks to process a passport, but in the event of complications or a back log at the passport office can mean waiting for a few months.
Unless the honeymoon is planned for a month or more after the wedding, the bride's passport will be issued in her maiden name. The passport office requires submission of official documentation of any name changes, and this is impossible until the bride can submit the completed marriage certificate.
Since the bride and groom will have different last names on their passports, make sure all tickets are booked in the names that appear on the passports.
Once back from the honeymoon the bride must submit her passport along with the correct form and the official name change documentation to the passport agency. There is no charge for a name change, and the documentation will be returned to you with the amended passport.
