What is a Sari
A sari is a rectangular piece of cloth which is five to six yards in length.
Saris are available in a number of fabrics, like pure silk, cottons and synthetics in various colours and are embellished with embroidery, gold thread work or painting, cutwork.
The sari is worn with an underskirt of a similar shade and a matching or contrasting blouse or choli.
The sari has an ageless charm since it is not cut or tailored for a particular size, it can fit any size and if worn properly can enhance many types of figures.
It can be worn in several ways and its manner of wearing it depends on the part of India you are from.

Choli or Blouse
The tightly fitted, short blouse worn under a sari is a choli.

Under Skirt
The underskirt is worn just above or below the bellybutton and functions as a support garment to hold the sari.
