| Tips
on Looking After your Mendhi |
|
Once the mendhi
has been put on wet the mendhi with lemon juice. Take a piece of cotton
wool dip it in lemon juice and then dab it over your mendhi Do not
rub otherwise you will smudge your pattern, just dab lightly. Make
sure the henna is dry between dabbing |
|
Keep the henna
overnight or at least 6 hours. The best thing to do is have your henna
applied after dinner in the evening and sleep with it. My mother made
me wear socks on each hand so I wouldn't be tempted to rub, itch or
anything else. This also means that all dry bits do not go all over
the bed. |
|
Scrap the henna of the
next day and rub with oil. DO NOT RINSE!. The henna will darken within
the next 24 hours.
|
|
Try not wetting the henna for at
least 12 hours, this will give it a chance to darken.
|
|
Try not using
strong products on your hands and use as little soap as possible.
The mendhi is only on the surface of your skin and soap will rub it
of. |
|
Avoid washing up, this is the
reason henna is applied the night before the wedding. Tradition says that the
bride to be will not do any housework once the henna has been applied.
