Planning The Party
Setting The Date
Type of Wedding
Getting engaged is both fun and exciting, and most people want to celebrate, and tell the world about it. The most fun way to do this is to have an engagement party.
The party can be traditional or modern.
The traditional approach is when the bride's parents organise and pay for the event, if they are unable to do so, the duties will fall on the groom's parents. They choose who to invite, and sent out the invitations, either formally by printed invitations, or informally by letters, or verbal communication. The event is usually a sit down meal where the bride sits to the groom's left, with the bride's parents next to the bride, and likewise with the groom. If speeches are to made, it is usually the bride's father who starts, this may be followed by the groom who will propose a toast to the health and happiness of both sets of parents.
The more modern approach to an engagement party is for the new couple to make the arrangements. This gives them the freedom to choose what type of event to have, and also who to invite. Some couples see the engagement party for close family and fiends, and the wedding for family and close friends, if this is the case the more modern approach of engagement would be ideal. This type of party is usually more informal, and can be held in a bar, night club, or restaurant.
