Gold
Gold is measured in carats, you can get 9 carat, 14 carat, 18 carat, 22 carat and 24 carat which is the purest of gold however it is too soft for rings so it is mixed with other metals, this carat is also the least durable. 9 carat is the cheapest. 22 carat is more durable. 18 carat is the most popular choice because it is durable and looks good.
Most wedding rings are between 14 carats and 18 carats.
The ring should have a hallmark confirming its quality. Never by a ring that is suppose to be gold which does not have a hallmark.
