Choosing Reception Music
When choosing music look at the guest list, this
will give an indication of the age group of your guests. This way you will be able to choose music for your 16 year old
guest to your 60 year old guest that will enjoy.
If you want
everyone to dance, then obviously you will have to have dance music.
If you want a quieter reception, then all you will
only need background music.
Decide whether you want live music,
a DJ or taped music, if you want a live music do you want it all evening or do you want a combination.
The type of music you choose to have will
probably depend on the type of reception you are having. Does the reception venue have
space for a live band or DJ.
Whether you
choose to have a DJ or a live band try and get someone that has been
recommended if you can. Listen to demo tapes and go and see them at
work. |
Check their equipment, if there equipment is not
up to it then they are going to sound terrible.
Does your function room have the sockets and any other
equipment that they may need.
Discuss with them the type of music you want played.
They should be able to guide you what sort of music people will dance to.
Let them know what you want played for your
first dance.
What background music is going to be played
while you are having your meal.
If you are going to have a DJ, are they going to
bring special disco lighting if you want.
What time do you want them to start and finish.
If you need them to play a little longer, will they and
how much extra will they charge.
When will they set up.
How much deposit is required and when is the final payment
due.
Get everything in writing, so there are no arguments during your
reception.
